German sculptor Marita Vollborn selected for London Art Biennale 2027
Chianciano Terme – German sculptor Marita Vollborn has been named among ten artists from the IX Biennale di Chianciano who have already qualified for the London Art Biennale 2027.
The official winners list of the ninth Chianciano Biennale, held from 15 to 29 August 2026 at the Museo d’Arte di Chianciano Terme, places Vollborn in the section “London Art Biennale 2027.” Her work is listed as the bronze sculpture ARES (2015, Germany).
Nine other artists appear in the same category: Catherine Tomova, Tilmann Krumrey, G. Todorov, Toby Harding, Fadik Erin, Alessandro Brunelli, Brendan Mc Gettigan, Horhat Kund Lehel and Marco Dotti.
The 2026 edition exhibited 301 artists. Organizers have previously stated that selected Chianciano winners receive automatic approval to take part in the London Art Biennale.
ARES is named after the Greek god of war. Vollborn has described the bronze as a work confronting militarism, violence and profiteering from conflict. It forms part of her sculptural project “Sinn und Scherben.”
